Hunter Marine Surveyors was established in 1999 by Captain Andrew Graver and Captain Louis Koutelas who have over 75 years combined seagoing and marine surveying experience. The company is now the largest marine surveying company in the port of Newcastle with a professional team of 14 who have extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of marine surveying.

Our focus on technology and customer satisfaction saw the creation of CargoMax software solutions. CargoMax software provides fast, accurate, and reliable results for various types of marine surveys. It is seen by many as an industry standard, and is used by thousands of seafarers as well as surveying companies in many bulk ports around the world.
HMS expanded to the Pilbara in mid 2017, surveying ships loading iron ore in Dampier and Port Walcott for RTIO. This branch has developed many key improvements to trimming practices helping reduce delays during loading. Our newly formed team includes many years of iron ore experience resulting in excellent results for our client.
Our innovation in the area of bulk loadings has benefited many of our clients. The use of our comprehensive running draft and trimming surveys have helped many vessels avoid overloading. Adjustments to cargo during these surveys has also helped vessels maximize their cargo loaded and achieve the required departure condition.
Port Captaincy Supervision helps vessels monitor the entire loading with crew education being a key component. We actively help vessels understand the most efficient deballast methods and monitoring to help achieve higher load rates.
We have assisted many clients with our work in the field of stowage factor measurement. This has also helped shippers achieve maximum cargo which in turn increase revenue for all involved.
Our portal provides subscribers with valuable performance data on vessels to help with vetting and monitoring for future voyages.

Andrew has over 39 years experience both at sea and ashore as a marine surveyor. He is part of the executive and is the NSW state representative for the Australasian Institute of Marine Surveyors .

Bradley is a Fellow of AIMS having served on various industry groups. Bradleys long industry service and mentoring young surveyors has been invaluable over many years.
